EVENING FLOWER BODYWASH
A long day can leave you exhausted in mind and body, yet unable to sleep because you need time to wind down before bed while the dayâs events run through your mind. A soothing, warm bath or shower with this evening bodywash is a lovely solution for a busy mind and tired body. The warm water relaxes your muscles, while the scents of ylang-ylang and chamomile melt away your stresses, all preparing you for sleep.
Ingredients:
1 cup unscented liquid Castile soap
¼ cup vegetable glycerin
8 drops ylang-ylang essential oil
4 drops Roman chamomile essential oil
Preparation:
1. Pour a ¼ cup vegetable glycerin into a small glass bowl.
2. Add 8 drops ylang-ylang essential oil and 4 drops Roman chamomile essential oil.
3. Mix with a metal spoon.
4. Pour this mixture into a 16-ounce blue or amber glass bottle using a metal funnel.
5. Pour 1 cup unscented liquid Castile soap into the glass bottle using the metal funnel.
6. Cap the bottle with a pump top.
7. Shake to mix.
Administration:
1. Shake before each useâthe ingredients will naturally separate between uses.
2. Pump 2â3 pumps of the evening bodywash onto a wet washcloth.
3. Rub the bodywash-covered washcloth over your skin.
4. Apply more bodywash as needed.
5. Inhale the relaxing aroma of the bodywash.
6. Rinse your entire body.
Benefits:
Ylang-ylang is a feminine, floral essential oil that calms, and decreases alertness.
Roman chamomile has sedative properties that soothe skin and promote relaxation.
Both ylang-ylang and Roman chamomile can help prevent insomnia.
Unscented Castile soap is gentle on skin and makes an ideal neutral soap base with essential oils.
Glycerin, an emulsifier, helps hold the essential oils in the mixture without the risk of rancidity that results when a carrier oil mixes with water.
The shower acts as both a humidifier and a diffuser, allowing the essential oils to work aromatically as well as topically.
Notes and Tips:
Use care when using this bodywash if you are co-sleeping with a young child. The sedative effects are unlikely to be strong enough to affect your ability to wake, but any type of sedative is not advised while co-sleeping.
If you use this bodywash with a plastic pouf, you may find the pouf does not last as long since essential oils can break down plastic. Washcloths are not only more durable, but they can also be more hygienic (as long theyâre changed regularly) and gentler on skin.
The Relaxing Shaving Cream pairs perfectly with this bodywash.
